Entrepreneur, United States Marine Corps veteran, and private pilot — building companies, giving back, and studying the law.
Roman Lemar (born Roman Yousof) was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on April 18, 1994, and has one younger sister. His family moved to Anaheim, in California's Orange County, where he attended John O. Tynes Elementary School in Placentia before the family moved north to Brentwood. At Heritage High School in Brentwood he joined the robotics club and competed in the FIRST Tech Challenge in 2010, an experience covered by The Press[1] and the East Bay Times.[2]
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 2012 to 2019 — six years of service followed by two in the Individual Ready Reserve. He began in international supply chain and logistics before moving to the infantry as an 0331 machine gunner with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, a Marine Corps Reserve unit based in Lansing, Michigan. The Corps taught him discipline, logistics at scale, and how to lead when it counts — lessons he has carried into every venture since. Alongside his service he volunteered with the Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots program, including a 2016 toy collection at Hoben Elementary School in Canton, Michigan.[3]
In 2022, following his marriage, Roman changed his surname from Yousof to Lemar — his mother's maiden name — in recognition of her having raised him from the age of 13; the marriage ended in divorce in 2024. He studied criminal justice at Saginaw Valley State University and earned a B.S. in Business Administration, with a focus in real estate law, from Purdue University Global in 2025. In September 2025 he began his Juris Doctor at Cooley Law School in Tampa, concentrating on mergers & acquisitions and real estate law.
Roman owns and operates a private holding company and is a registered member of the Republican Party. Outside of work he is an FAA-licensed private pilot, a PADI open-water scuba diver, and a snowboarder. As of August 2025 he lives in Tampa, Florida.
